Flights from the UK to the Philippines
Routes, airports and timing for getting home, whether it’s a summer visit or Christmas with the family.
How most people fly
Most journeys from the UK to Manila stop once on the way. The usual connections are in the Gulf (Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi), Istanbul, or East Asia (Singapore, Hong Kong). Compare the total journey time as well as the price: a cheaper fare with a very long layover can cost you a day of your holiday.
Flying from outside London
Several airlines that connect to Manila also fly from regional UK airports such as Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Starting near home can save a train ticket and an early start, even when the fare is a little higher.
Beyond Manila
If your family is in the Visayas or Mindanao, look at flying into Cebu, or booking a connecting domestic flight on the same ticket. On one ticket, the airline has to rebook you if the first flight is late.
Booking for Christmas
- Book as early as you can: December fares usually climb as seats sell.
- Look at mid-week departures and flying a few days before the school holidays start.
- Check the baggage allowance before you pack pasalubong. Some airlines let you check in a balikbayan box as luggage.
Before you land
Complete the Philippines’ eTravel registration before you travel. It is free on the official site, etravel.gov.ph. Ignore websites that charge a fee for it.
